Mumbai, Aug. 4 -- Veteran educationist, philanthropist and former Governor of Tripura, Bihar and West Bengal, Dr Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil, died in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, on Tuesday at the age of 90, family sources said.

Fondly known as "Dada", Dr Patil devoted several decades of his life to public service, education, healthcare and social welfare. His death marks the end of a long public career that spanned politics, constitutional responsibilities and the expansion of professional education in Maharashtra and other parts of the country.
