Jaipur, Sept. 27 -- Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Rajasthan Minister Nand Lal Meena passed away this morning following a protracted illness. He was 79.
Meena was undergoing treatment for age-related health issues at a hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he breathed his last.
A prominent mass leader in the tribal-dominated Mewar region, Meena served as a seven-time MLA and a long-time Minister in previous BJP regimes. He held ministerial positions three times under Chief Ministers Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Vasundhara Raje.
He also represented the Salumber (ST) parliamentary constituency in the Lok Sabha on a BJP ticket. His son, Hemant Meena, currently serves as a member of the Bhajan Lal Sharma cabinet.
