Varanasi, March 23 -- : The Varanasi Municipal Corporation has launched a unique initiative to keep the ghats of the sacred River Ganga-the bestower of salvation-clean and beautiful.

From now on, the ghats will no longer be littered with old clothes and worship materials left behind by devotees. To address this, the Corporation has decided to install ''Arpan Kalash'' (offering urns) at prominent ghats. The initiative was officially launched on Monday at Assi Ghat.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Savita Yadav stated that, in the first phase of the project, the Municipal Corporation has decided to install these ''Arpan Kalash'' at six major ghats. Following Assi Ghat, these urns will soon be installed at Dashashwamedh, Rajghat, Panchganga...
