Bengaluru, Feb. 22 -- On a Sunday afternoon that barely outlasted a polite cup of tea - 56 brisk minutes by the stadium clock - Belgium's Hanne Vandewinkel delivered a sharp and unsentimental 6-0, 6-1 dismissal of India's Vaishnavi Adkar in the ITF W100 title clash at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium here.
This was less tug-of-war and more tutorial - Vandewinkel conducting the orchestra, Vaishnavi scrambling for a seat in the gallery.
Set 1 arrived with the chill of a winter wind and the cruelty of a bakery window: a 6-0 "bagel." Vandewinkel zipped through six straight games with commuter-train punctuality. She cracked three aces, landed better than 62 per cent of her first serves, and harvested 10 first-serve points with tidy efficiency.
