Thiruvananthapuram, May 14 -- The Indian National Congress on Thursday formally announced senior leader V D Satheesan as the Chief Minister-designate of Kerala, bringing an end to days of political uncertainty within the party following the United Democratic Front's electoral victory in the state.

The announcement was made at a press briefing held in New Delhi at the AICC headquarters, where senior Congress leaders Ajay Maken, Mukul Wasnik, and Deepa Dasmunshi are reported to have conveyed the decision on behalf of the central leadership.
