Hyderabad, April 24 -- Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday directed officials to accelerate grain procurement operations for the ongoing Rabi season, stating that the government is prepared to procure a record 90 lakh metric tonnes.
At a high-level review meeting held at the Dr B R. Ambedkar Secretariat, he said 8,500 procurement centres have been set up across the state, of which 5,000 are already operational with necessary infrastructure and transport facilities.
The Minister noted that procurement has begun in 20 districts where arrivals have started, while the process is yet to commence in 13 districts due to delays in cultivation. So far, about 4.89 lakh metric tonnes of grain have been proc...
