Doha, July 1 -- As US and Iranian negotiators are holding indirect talks in Doha centred on the future of the Strait of Hormuz, Washington has argued that a broader agreement especially on Iran's nuclear programme stands to give it far greater economic benefits than any revenue generated through tolls in the strategic waterway.
The negotiations come two weeks after the Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that established a 60-day window to negotiate a comprehensive settlement. However, the two sides remain heavily divided on the interpretation of the interim deal's key provisions.
