Washington, July 24 -- The United States on Friday imposed sanctions on a senior Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood official based in the United Kingdom, along with three individuals and three entities accused of providing financial support to Hamas, as the Trump administration intensified efforts to disrupt the group's international funding networks.
The sanctions, announced, target what Washington described as a transnational financial network that used charities, businesses and underground banking channels to move money in support of Hamas, which the United States designates as a terrorist organization.
The US said the action was aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure of both the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.
