Washington, Oct. 3 -- US President Donald Trump has said he and the OMB (Organisation of Management and Budget) Russ Vought will work on which "Democrat Agencies" to cut as the US government shutdown approached its third day.

Likening the shutdown to an opportunity for the Republicans to "clear out dead wood", he portrayed it as a means to reshape the federal spending on bureaucracy and agencies.

His remarks suggested he may use the shutdown to strip funding from Democratic priorities, escalating tensions as hundreds of thousands of federal workers remain furloughed.
