New York, Aug. 23 -- The 2025 US Open will etch another milestone in the history of America's Grand Slam as it begins tomorrow for the first time in the Open Era, extending the main draw to 15 days. The move, already adopted by the Australian Open and Roland Garros, adds one more day of action, fan engagement, and star power to the final major of the tennis calendar.
Tournament organisers said the extra day would not only ease scheduling pressures on players but also enhance the fan experience. Last year, the 2024 edition set an all-time record by drawing more than 832,000 spectators.
