Beirut, July 11 -- A US military delegation has arrived in Beirut for talks with the Lebanese Armed Forces on the implementation of Israel's planned withdrawal from a pilot zone in southern Lebanon.

According to an anonymous Lebanese military official, the discussions are centred around the mechanisms required for Israel's withdrawal from the first designated pilot zone and the subsequent deployment of Lebanese army forces.

"The American military delegation arrived and began meetings with the Lebanese army command to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the first pilot zone from which the Israelis will withdraw, allowing the Lebanese army to deploy," the official said.
