Washington, July 19 -- The U.S. military said it launched a fresh wave of airstrikes against Iran on Saturday, saying the attacks were intended to "swiftly punish" Tehran after two American service members were killed and another went missing following Iranian missile and drone strikes in Jordan.
"The strikes are designed to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night," U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement posted on X.
