Tehran/Washington, April 16 -- Negotiations between the US and Iran, with Pakistan acting as mediator, are inching closer to a possible breakthrough, with momentum building after days of backchannel exchanges and renewed diplomatic activity, reported Al Jazeera on Thursday.

The latest push comes as Pakistan Army COAS and CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Tehran carrying what officials described as a fresh message from Washington, part of an effort to narrow the remaining gaps and set up another round of talks.

Pakistan has continued its role as the mediator, passing messages from both sides, and aiming to revive the diplomatic process, even after the first round in Islamabad failed.
