Washington, Nov. 9 -- Amid the US government shutdown entering its 40th day, Washington has halted an estimated $5 billion worth of arms exports to Ukraine and its NATO allies, underscoring the heavy repercussions, following the constant delays, stops, and pauses, a State Department official told Axios.

"This is actually really harming both our allies and partners and US industry to actually deliver a lot of these critical capabilities overseas," the official said, adding that the delivery of critical weapon systems, such as AMRAAM missiles, Aegis combat systems and HIMARS, to its European allies such as Denmark, Croatia and Poland have been affected.
