Moscow/Kyiv, Oct. 23 -- Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a temporary ceasefire in the frontline town of Alyoshki in Russia's Kherson Region to allow humanitarian aid deliveries and civilian evacuations, following mediation by US First Lady Melania Trump, the White House has announced.

The localised truce is scheduled to begin on October 29 and will temporarily halt military action to allow aid into the town and establish a safe passage for civilians seeking to leave, according to the first lady's office. Neither Moscow nor Kyiv has publicly commented on the announcement, although Ukrainian officials have indicated that a tentative agreement has been reached in the Russian-occupied territory.
