Patna, July 24 -- The Bihar Assembly witnessed a stormy exchange today after the state government informed the house that there is no provision to officially record the Bhumihar community as "Bhumihar Brahmin" in government documents.
Replying to a call attention of BJP MLA Nivesh Mishra, Deputy Chief Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav said that there is no legal or administrative provision in Bihar to record the caste as "Bhumihar Brahmin." He further clarified that the government has neither received nor is considering any proposal to officially adopt that nomenclature in its records.
