Lucknow, April 11 -- The Election Commission of India released the final voter list in Uttar Pradesh after a 166-day Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign on Friday. Over 20 million names were deleted from the final list.

This process by the Election Commission has not only led to a major change in the voter list but also forced political parties to change their strategies for the 2027 assembly elections.

Principal state players such as BJP, Samajwadi Party, BSP, and Congress have closely monitored the SIR process. These parties not only deployed their workers to persuade voters not to migrate from urban areas to rural areas, but also ensured that new voters were enrolled after the names were deleted from the draft voter list.
