Lucknow, Sept. 7 -- Uttar Pradesh's rural economy is no longer confined to local and domestic markets as agricultural products from the state are now reaching international markets after processing, with the export of 25,000 quintals of molasses from Basti is a major example of this, generating nearly USD 5 lakh in foreign exchange earnings.

Notably, molasses falls under a separate tariff classification; therefore, the foreign exchange earned from it is separate from the state's main excise export figures.
