Lucknow, March 29 -- Dr Rajeshwar Singh, BJP MLA of Sarojininagar in Lucknow underscored the pivotal role played by the tourism, hospitality, and MICE sectors in India''s economic growth.
Delivering the keynote address at the FHRAI Wedding & MICE Tourism Conclave 2026 here on Saturday evening, Singh stated that tourism contributes approximately 10pc to the global GDP and provides employment to 330 million people, while the MICE industry is projected to exceed USD 1.5 trillion in value by 2032.
In India, this sector contributes over Rs 20 lakh crore to the GDP and employs more than 48 million people; yet, despite this potential, India currently attracts only 1-1.5pc of global tourists, he said.
