Lucknow, June 20 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has launched an initiative to assess the performance of municipal corporations and strengthen urban governance, with all 17 mayors directed to prepare report cards on civic services in their respective cities.

Officials said on Saturday that a meeting of all 17 mayors will be held in Lucknow on June 24 to discuss urban infrastructure, municipal finances and reforms required to improve service delivery.

A proforma has been circulated among mayors seeking details on drinking water supply, sanitation, waste management, street lighting, tax collection and other civic amenities. Information has also been sought on steps taken to improve urban services and generate additional revenue.
