Shillong, June 25 -- Meghalaya Police have arrested a 22-year-old man Sachin Nishad from Gujarat in connection with a cyber blackmail case linked to the alleged of a woman from South West Khasi Hills district, police said on Thursday.
The victim, a resident of Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills district, allegedly hanged herself on April 19, 2026, after Nishad had reportedly threatened to circulate her private photographs and videos on social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram unless she complied with his demands.
Based on an FIR lodged by the victim's sister, a case was registered at Mawkyrwat Women Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, and launched th...
