Lucknow, Nov. 13 -- The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to reduce the stamp duty and registration fees on rental contracts significantly, providing relief to tenants and landlords, official sources said here on Wednesday.

Sources said that the move aims to promote legal registration of rental agreements and reduce disputes arising from informal arrangements.

"The government is also developing an online platform through which tenants and landlords can digitally prepare and sign rental contracts through Aadhaar verification," they said.
