Manoj BhadraLucknow, May 18 -- Now it is almost official that the three-tier panchayat polls will be held after the crucial 2027 assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

After much delay, the Yogi Adityanath government on Monday approved a proposal to set up an OBC Commission, which will determine OBC reservations for Panchayat elections.

The present term of the panchayat ends later this month. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to the decisions, the OBC Commission will consist of five members, and a retired High Court judge will be appointed as its chairperson. The Commission's tenure will be six months, and its main work will be to determine the reservation of the OBCs in the pancha...
