Lucknow, April 11 -- The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday evening ordered the transfer of three IPS officers, including Superintendents of Police (SPs) of two districts, following a series of controversies and law-and-order concerns.

IPS officer Prachi Singh, who was recently removed from her post in Siddharthnagar after a dispute with a local MLA, has now been appointed as the new SP of Ambedkar Nagar. She replaces Abhijeet R. Shankar, who has been transferred to Deoria as the new SP.

Meanwhile, Sanjeev Suman, who was serving as the SP of Deoria, has been sidelined and attached to the DGP headquarters.

The reshuffle comes in the wake of several incidents in Deoria that raised serious questions about policing in the district.
