Deoria, Jan. 19 -- Former Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, who is lodged in Deoria jail in a fraud case, received major relief on Monday after the district judge's court granted him bail.

The court, however, rejected the anticipatory bail application of his wife and co-accused, Nutan Thakur, in the case.

According to district government counsel (criminal) Rajesh Mishra, the bail application of Amitabh Thakur was heard by the district judge's court on Monday. After considering the arguments and submissions made by both the prosecution and the defence, the court approved his bail and directed him to furnish two sureties of Rs 1 lakh each.

At the same time, the court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea filed by Nutan Thakur. Follo...
