Lucknow, March 7 -- A helicopter carrying Keshav Prasad Maurya was forced to make an emergency landing in Lucknow on Saturday after smoke was detected inside the aircraft mid-flight, triggering a brief scare.

The chopper was immediately diverted and landed safely at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport after the pilot reported a technical malfunction.

According to officials, the helicopter had taken off from the grounds of La Martiniere College in the morning and was headed to Kaushambi. Maurya was scheduled to inaugurate a two-day Saras Mahotsav at the Babu Singh Degree College ground in Sayara.
