Lucknow, Aug. 14 -- On Independence Day, 12 Uttar Pradesh Police officers will be awarded the President's Medal for Gallantry, while 81 police personnel will be awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
Six senior police officers were given President's Medal for Meritorious Service.
Martyr Police Inspector Sunil Kumar of the Special Task Force (STF) will be awarded the Gallantry medal posthumously. He was shot during an encounter with criminals in Shamli.
At the same time, 16 Fire services personnel will also be awarded the President's Gallantry Medal.
