UP Congress demands probe into donations received by six unrecognised parties from Gujarat

Lucknow, Sept. 6 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President Ajay Rai has demanded an investigation into the source and ultimate beneficiaries of suspicious donations worth crores of rupees received by unrecognised political parties registered in Gujarat.

He sent a letter to Rahul Naveen, Director of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Income Tax Department, seeking an investigation into the matter.

In the letter, Ajay Rai cited a report by BBC Hindi journalist Shubhangi Mishra, stating that six unrecognised political parties from Gujarat received donations totalling approximately Rs 1,700 crore during the 2023-24 financial year.
