Lucknow, Oct. 20 -- Diwali, the festival of lights, was celebrated in Uttar Pradesh with enthusiasm and traditional gaiety today.

Lamps and lights lit up cities and towns, fairs and festivities, as people worshipped Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha.

Almost every house in the state has been decorated with colourful lights while children and elders wore new clothes to celebrate the occasion.
