Bijnor, April 9 -- In a major anti-corruption action in Bijnor, a vigilance team from Bareilly caught District Panchayati Raj Officer (DPRO) Rizwan Ahmad red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 inside his office today.

The accused was arrested following a complaint by a gram panchayat secretary, Shubham Malik, who alleged that the officer had demanded Rs 50,000 in exchange for assigning him a preferred gram panchayat and closing an ongoing inquiry against him. The deal was later settled at Rs 20,000.
