Varanasi, June 16 -- An unique and cultural ritual was performed in Kashi on Tuesday to provide relief to the residents of Kashi, suffering from the scorching afternoons and intense heat of Jyeshtha-Ashadha.
While Vedic chanting, prayers, and holy baths continue every morning and evening on the banks of the Ganges in Kashi, musical practices have been initiated to appease Lord Indra, the god of clouds.
It is believed that when human prayers are accompanied by musical harmony, the Gods are also pleased. With this hope, prayers are being offered through the music to relieve the scorching heat of Kashi.
