Lucknow, Oct. 25 -- An 80-year-old woman, Vimla Singh, was allegedly murdered by her son, Atendra Singh, in the Ahmad Ganj area of Thakurganj this afternoon. Police have taken the son into custody for questioning.
The victim's body was discovered in the courtyard of their house by a tenant around 3 p.m. on Saturday. Neighbours immediately rushed her to the Trauma Center, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Atendra was reportedly sitting nearby when the incident was discovered.
The deceased woman's daughter, Sheebu, informed the police that Atendra was addicted to intoxicants and frequently assaulted their mother. Due to his violent behaviour, the victim's four daughters had distanced themselves and stopped visiting the house.
