Baghpat, March 30 -- In a major anti-corruption action, the Crime Branch team from Meerut today arrested the driver of a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Khekra tehsil of Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
A case has been registered at Khekra police station.
According to officials, the accused driver, identified as Nishu, was caught red-handed in afternoon during a planned operation conducted by the anti-corruption team. The entire bribe amount was recovered from the spot, causing a stir within the local administrative setup.
