Lucknow, March 7 -- A controversy has erupted after a cleric from Bihar allegedly made objectionable remarks about the mother of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during a religious speech.
The cleric, identified as Maulana Abdullah Salim, reportedly made the remarks while addressing a gathering in Bihar and speaking about the cow slaughter law implemented in Uttar Pradesh. During the speech, he allegedly used inappropriate words about the chief minister's mother and also made comments about the Uttar Pradesh police.
The remarks have triggered widespread outrage, particularly in Uttar Pradesh. In Lucknow, protesters burned an effigy of Maulana Abdullah Salim at Hazratganj intersection today and raised slogans against him.
