Jhansi, March 24 -- In a surprising case from Jhansi, 23 police constables have been suspended after they were found to have taken leave on false medical grounds to appear for a sub-inspector (daroga) recruitment examination, officials disclosed today.
According to officials, the constables had applied for leave citing illness but were later discovered to have attended the written examination conducted on March 14 and 15 for 4,543 sub-inspector posts in Uttar Pradesh Police. The matter came to light following an internal departmental inquiry.
