Lucknow / Saharanpur, March 15 -- A man was allegedly cheated of Rs 5.40 lakh in a cyber fraud after a scammer posed as a woman on Facebook and convinced him to invest in online trading.
The cyber crime police have registered an FIR (first information report) and started an investigation, officials confirmed today.
According to the complaint, Sandeep Tomar, a resident of Sarai Hisamuddin in the Old Mandi area under Kutubsher police station, received a Facebook friend request from a profile named "Swati Agrawal". After accepting the request, he began receiving phone calls from a person claiming to be the same woman.
