Varanasi, June 13 -- International shooter and Olympian Jaspal Rana was cremated at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi today with full state honours.
Shooter's son, Yuvraj Singh Rana (21), lit the funeral pyre.
During the final journey, MLA Pankaj Singh and Neeraj Singh, sons of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, shouldered the body. Pankaj Singh is Jaspal Rana's brother-in-law. Upon reaching Manikarnika Ghat, the body was bathed with Ganga jal before it was laid on the pyre. A guard of honour was paid as a final respect.
Earlier, at 3:52 pm on Saturday, Jaspal Rana's body arrived at Varanasi airport from Dehradun by a charter flight. The body was kept for paying condolences at the air cargo complex in the airport's old terminal building, where a...
