Lucknow, Sept. 1 -- Monsoon rains have caused rivers in Uttar Pradesh to overflow, with 19 districts affected by floods.

Around 2000 people evacuated to safer locations on Monday, but no casualties have been reported so far, officials here on Tuesday said.

Reports say the Ganga River in Varanasi has reached near the danger mark. Manikarnika Ghat is submerged, and the road leading to the crematorium is submerged. People are carrying bier bodies through knee-deep water. The 50-foot-high Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple is 95% submerged. Water has also entered the water police post at Dashashwamedh Ghat.
