Prayagraj, Aug. 31 -- At least 5 people were killed and 12 others were injured in a massive explosion at a fireworks factory in Mohammadpur village of Kaushambi district on the Prayagraj border today.
According to police, the explosion razed the entire factory while 8 nearby houses within a 100-metre radius were damaged and three of them razed to the ground.
The explosion also created tension for the authorities as the spot was just 2 kilometres away from Manauri airbase of the Indian Air Force.
Kaushambi District Magistrate Amit Pal Sharma has confirmed the death of 5 people, including 2 children, in the explosion.
He said rescue operation was underway and the guilty people will not be spared.
