Saharanpur, Oct. 25 -- A wild elephant died today after being electrocuted by a low-hanging 11kV high-tension electricity wire in Behat tehsil of Saharanpur district, a forest department official confirmed.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Vipul Singhal said the wild elephant died in the morning after contact with the wire passing over fields near Prati Sundarpur village in the Mohand Range of Shivalik.

Departmental officials and field staff immediately reached the scene, secured the carcass, and initiated necessary procedures. A team of three veterinarians is currently conducting a post-mortem examination.
