Varanasi, Sept. 12 -- Divisional Commissioner S Rajalingam conducted a surprise inspection of the Varanasi Ropeway Project on Friday evening and directed officials to expedite pending works at various stations.
The physical progress of the nearly 3.85-km ropeway project connecting Cantt with Godaulia has reached 94.35 per cent, officials said.
Expressing displeasure over the slow pace of work at Cantt station, Rajalingam directed that all major finishing works be completed by September 25. He also ordered officials to expedite work related to the skywalk and summit and ensure cleaning of escalators, elevators and railings.
He directed that baggage-checking facilities and door-frame metal detectors be installed on priority.
