Varanasi, June 26 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh announced its new team on Thursday.

The party has appointed Ashok Chaurasia as the Kashi region president. Chaurasia, a member of the OBC community, has been actively working for the party at the grassroots level for over two decades. He graduated from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and received a Master's degree (MA) in History from Meerut University.

By appointing Chaurasia as part of its strategy to create new electoral alliances in Purvanchal as well as the Kashi region, the BJP aims to sharpen its preparations for the 2027 assembly elections.
