Hyderabad, April 2 -- The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has joined an international research initiative aimed at understanding and addressing mental health issues among farmers and farm workers in India caused by climate change and heat exposure.
Titled "TOLAKARI" (Transformation of Lived Experience and Knowledge of Heat, Agriculture and Depression in India), the project is funded by the Wellcome Trust with a grant of £3 million and brings together leading institutions from India and the United Kingdom.
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Hyderabad is a key participant in the project, which seeks to examine the causal pathways linking extreme heat and mental health challenges, including depression, among farmers. The ...
