Chandigarh, March 20 -- A powerful Western Disturbance has triggered widespread unseasonal rainfall, hailstorms, and high-velocity winds across Haryana and Punjab, leading to a dramatic shift in weather conditions reminiscent of peak winter.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'Orange Alert' for 19 districts in Haryana and several parts of Punjab for Friday, predicting thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h.
