New Delhi, Aug. 22 -- Universities must play a more active role in shaping public policy by providing credible research, ground-level evidence and practical solutions to governments and legislatures, Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta said on Saturday.

Addressing the inaugural session of the Vice Chancellors' Conclave 2026 at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies in Faridabad, Gupta said higher education institutions should not remain confined to academic spaces but should become partners in addressing environmental and developmental challenges.
