Lucknow, Oct. 7 -- Gonda MP and union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and MoS External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh was declared elected in the election held in Lucknow on Monday for the post of President of the 165-year-old Anjuman-e-Hind Awadh Parivar (formerly known as the British India Association).

The royal families of Mankapur and Balrampur faced each other in the election. Kirti Vardhan Singh defeated Jayendra Pratap Singh of the Balrampur royal family by a huge margin of 130 votes.

Voting began at 9 a.m. on Monday at the Safed Baradari in Lucknow's Kaiserbagh and continued until 4 p.m. A total of 236 votes were cast. In the results announced after 5 p.m.
