Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 27 -- union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Minority Affairs, George Kurian, will launch the 'Matsya Shakthi' project tomorrow to empower the minority fishermen community in Kerala.
The project, being implemented under the Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) Scheme, will be carried out by the Vizhinjam Regional Centre of the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI).
According to officials, the initiative envisages a year-long phased training programme for numerous minority fishermen families, focusing on skill development in fisheries and allied sectors. Training modules will cover modern technologies such as cage farming and seed production to enhanc...
