Siliguri, Oct. 5 -- union Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr. Sukanta Majumdar on Sunday said that the long-pending issue of the appointment of a Vice-Chancellor at the University of North Bengal was expected to be resolved soon.
Speaking to reporters in Siliguri, Dr Majumdar said the absence of a Vice-Chancellor at the university was unfortunate and had its roots in the earlier differences between the state government and the Governor during the previous period.
"The unfortunate thing is that there was a dispute between the state and the Governor during the time of the previous government. As a result, the University of North Bengal is without a Vice-Chancellor," Dr Majumdar said.
