Itanagar, March 3 -- In a significant success for security forces in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district, a hardcore insurgent belonging to the proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) (ULFA-I) surrendered before a joint team of security personnel at Khonsa on Tuesday.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs about the presence of a militant in the general area of Horu Chinghan, a focused joint operation was launched by Tirap Police in coordination with the 36 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles from COB Noglo.
After reaching the suspected location, security personnel activated local sources to establish contact with the insurgent and persuaded him to lay down arms.
