Kyiv, Aug. 6 -- Ukraine struck two major Russian oil refineries deep inside Russian territory on Thursday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, as Kyiv intensified its campaign against Moscow's energy infrastructure while renewing urgent calls for more Western air defence support.
Ukraine's armed forces targeted the Bashneft-Novoil refinery in Russia's Bashkortostan region and the Slavneft-Yanos refinery in the Yaroslavl region, hundreds of miles from the Ukrainian border, Zelenskyy said.
In a social media post, Zelenskyy said Ukraine's long-range strikes had "once again worked to limit Russia's oil revenues," arguing that Moscow relies on oil income to finance its war against Ukraine.
